The CVSup service is being phased out as of February 28, 2013, and further use is discouraged.
The Ports Collection is a set of Makefiles, patches, and description files stored in /usr/ports.
As those ports are not provided officially by the CRUX development team, this collection is disabled by default.
This section provides basic instructions on using the Ports Collection to install or remove software.
The detailed description of available make targets and environment variables is available in ports. As of mid 2012, the Free BSD Ports Project has migrated revision control systems from CVS to Subversion.
This set of files is used to compile and install applications on Free BSD.
The instructions below show several methods of obtaining the Ports Collection if it was not installed during initial Free BSD setup.
